SRI LANKA FLOOD RELIEF ASSISTANCE
As a result of the heavy monsoon rains in Sri Lanka over the last week several areas of the country have been badly affected by serious flooding and landslides. Over 100 lives have been lost and a large number have been displaced. The districts of Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Gampaha, Matara, Hambantota, Galle, Matale, Colombo, Kandy, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu have been badly affected.
Relief rescue and relief operations are currently being conducted by the Ministry of Disaster Management, Tri Forces and relevant government agencies to assist the victims and provide necessary relief.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Vienna kindly seeks the support of the Sri Lankan expatriate community in the form of cash donations, to provide relief assistance to the affected persons. The monies collected by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Vienna will be sent to the Ministry of Disaster Management of Sri Lanka.
Donations could be sent via the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Vienna through the following methods:
- Handing over the contributions to the Sri Lanka Embassy from Monday to Friday between 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs. (An official receipt will be issued)
