The Honorary Consulate of Sri Lanka in Salzburg in Austria together with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Austria organized an event to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of National Independence Day of Sri Lanka on 9 February 2023.
The event hosted by Mr. Christian Winzer, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Salzburg was attended by His Excellency Majintha Jayesinghe, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka, officers and Honorary Consuls based in Salzburg.
The ceremony commenced with lighting the traditional oil lamp and singing National Anthems of Sri Lanka and Austria.
Addressing the gathering Ambassador Majintha Jayesinghe recalled the close and special relations between the two countries and went on to state that our mutually beneficial journey continues, and we are grateful to the friendly people of Austria who have stood by Sri Lanka and assisting the country in times of adversity.
Honorary Consul Mr. Winzer said it is an honour to host an event to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka.
The event featured traditional Sri Lankan dances by the troupe of Channa – Upuli Arts Foundation. Sri Lankan cuisine and Ceylon Tea were served.
