The first ever direct flight from the Czech Republic to Sri Lanka took off today, 24 October 2023, from the Prague International Airport.
LOT Polish Airlines operates these direct charter flights from Prague to Colombo every Tuesday starting from 24 October 2023 to 26th March 2024 with Boeing 787 Dreamliners configured for 251 passengers. It is expected that these flights will attract around 5,800 tourists from the Czech Republic to Sri Lanka during this winter season. The new direct route will significantly reduce travel time to 10 hours one-way.
In coordination with the Embassy, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has established a partnership with a leading provider of travel services in the Czech Republic established in 1920, Čedok, on a Co-marketing Campaign, parallel to the commencement of direct charter flights.
The Counsellor of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Vienna, and Chargé d’Affaires for Czechia, Charitha Weerasinghe joined a ceremony to mark the inauguration of direct charter flights organised by Čedok and LOT Polish Airlines at Prague Airport, which was attended by Čedok CEO Stanislav Zeman, Executive Director of Prague Airport Jiri Vyskoc, Spokesperson of LOT Polish Airlines Krzysztof Moczulski, Sri Lanka Honourary Consul in Czechia Marek Nĕmec and several electronic and print media.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau together with Jetwing Travels would welcome the flight in Colombo on 25th October 2023.
