The Government of Sri Lanka rehabilitated approximately 12,000 ex-LTTE cadres who surrendered to the Government Security Forces during the final state of the humanitarian operation in 2009. Psychological care, spiritual therapy and vocational training were provided to the ex-combatants during the rehabilitation period. Ex-combatants have been reintegrated into the society with sufficient knowledge and skill to live a peaceful and a contended life.
