Effective immediately, the ETA application process has been fully restored and is operating as normal.
1. Tourist and Business Travellers
All eligible travellers must obtain ETA approval prior to departure by submitting their application through the official website: www.eta.gov.lk. Travellers are required to present the approved ETA document upon arrival in Sri Lanka.
Please be advised that arrival with only an ETA acknowledgement or reference notice is no longer permitted. Entry will be granted only upon presentation of a fully approved ETA.
2. Nationals Requiring Sponsor‑Submitted Visa Applications
Citizens of Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Afghanistan, Ghana, Syria, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) must continue to follow the established procedure for short‑term visa applications. Applications for these nationals must be submitted through a Sri Lankan sponsor at the Head Office of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, Sri Lanka, in accordance with standard requirements.
