Ambassador and Permanent Representative Dayani Mendis Presents Credentials to IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi

Ambassador and Permanent Representative Dayani Mendis presented her Letters of Credence to Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, at the Agency’s headquarters in Vienna. She was accompanied by Minister Counsellor Mahesh Gunawardena and Counsellor Neetha Chandrasena.

Presenting her credentials, Ambassador Mendis conveyed the greetings of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake highlighting Sri Lanka’s longstanding engagement with the Agency since 1957. She thanked the IAEA for its support under the Technical Cooperation program, particularly in the area of human health and agriculture. She referred to Sri Lanka’s recent hosting of IAEA regional training courses and expressed hope for enhanced engagement with the Agency in the future.

Noting the positive partnership and cooperation between Sri Lanka and the IAEA, through the Technical Cooperation program, Director General Grossi referred to the continuing collaboration in cancer treatment and the donation of PCR machines, observing that the Agency was prepared to provide additional support. Director General Grossi also affirmed the Agency’s readiness to further strengthen the engagement with Sri Lanka in the future.
